I have installed wamp ver 3.1.4 and getting an issue in using phpmyadmin. The error message is "There is mismatch between HTTPS indicated on the server and client. This can lead to non working phpMyAdmin or a security risk. Please fix your server configuration to indicate HTTPS properly."
I have updated the VC runtimes. There are no errors reports in the Apache, PHP or MySQL log. I am able to log into MYSql using MYSQL workbench though. The PHP ver I am using is 5.6.38.
After entering the username as root without any password, I get the "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET" . I have tried reinstalling WAMP but not seems to work. Appreciate the help of this forum in helping me resolve this issue. Thanks a ton

I had WAMP 2.5 installed on Windows 7, and ran it successfully a few years ago. Today it wouldn't launch.

I uninstalled and downloaded the current WAMP. Before installing I downloaded VC+++ x64 and x86 and ran Repair. I then ran the WAMP tool for checking the presence of the VC bits and pieces. It listed nine things that were missing. At the bottom it asked me if I wanted to save the result as a file. I did, of course, but it went off the bottom of the screen, so if there was an instruction for saving I couldn't see it.

With my eyesight, copy-typing the URLs listed is out of the question. I'm stumped.

Hello,

I am new to WAMP and MySQL. I had installed WAMP and had it running as localhost on my computer for a bit. Then I tried to change the domain name of my local website by first changing the name of the folder WAMP64/WWW/WEBSITE, then in Wordpress setting, and later by deleting the WEBSITE folder and installing wordpress again. Unfortunately since I did this, I cannot create a new database in phpMyAdmin anylonger:

When creating a database under tab "Databases":
- inserting a "Database name" and "Collation"
- Click "Create Database"
I get the error message "No tables found in database".

Since I am new to WAMP I would appreciate your help and detailed steps how i can fix this.

Thank you already.

I posted earlier about problems installing bits and pieces of VC+++. I failed to understand the answer, which directed me to "WAMPServer backup repo", whatever that is. I can't find it via Google.

The checking tool that identified the missing parts ended with an apparent invitation to save the log as a file. If that means a text file that can be copied and pasted, it would solve my problem, but the instruction for saving, if any, was off the bottom of the screen.

Can it be converted to a text file, and if so, can anyone tell me how?

Or alternatively, tell me where the "backup repo" can be found?

Stream and Play MP4 Files on Roku 4/3/2 (no replies)

Will Roku ever actually play mp4 files properly?

When I have any video file I want to stream to Roku I have to convert them to mp4 then it is hit or miss whether roku will play them or not. Some will start right up and play nicely and others especially larger HD files will not work at all. When I convert I always use h264 for video and aac for audio because these are the codecs that are supposed to work. It’s the same whether I stream the file or put it on a USB drive and plug it in so it’s not the streaming software’s problem. I wish Roku would get their stuff together and write some software that actually works with video files, as it is it truly sucks.

Why Roku not play some MP4 files?

You can use the Roku media player channel to play own personal video right on your TV via home’s PC, DLNA server or Roku’s USB port. However, only supported file types will be shown in Roku Media Player channel. From Roku media player channel supported file types, we can see that Roku 3/2/1 can playback H.264/AVC MP4 files, while on Roku 4, you can also play 4K H.265/HEVC MP4 files. If the MP4 is encoded with other unsupported video codec, you will definitely fail to open them in Roku Media Player from USB drive.

For people who try to stream unsupported MP4 files to Roku via Plex, the Plex Media Server will automatically transcode the incomaptible files to Roku media player readable file formats. However, as the transcoding process is very CPU intensive, in addition, the transcoding process will also use the temporary disk storage for the converted media. If your Plex Media Server CPU is not faster enough or if your boot drive is very small, it is not ideal to perform the transcoding process with Plex Media Server.

When in that condition, it is highly recommended to convert MP4 to Roku media player supported file formats with a third-party video conversion tool. Here, an remarkable tool called Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate (best video converter review) can assist you to comprehensively convert all the unsupported MP4 files formats for Roku playback.

If you have video backgroud information, you can get the best Roku playback settings by flexibly tweaking the output video codec, bit rate, frame rate, resolution and audio codec, bit rate, sample rate and channels, etc.

Apart from MP4, you can also use this program to stream and play Blu-ray/DVDISO imageBDMVVideo_TS or other incompatible file formats on Roku 4/3/2.

For Mac users, your can turn to download Pavtube iMedia Converter for Mac to perform the same conversion on Mac OS X El Capitan or macOS Sierra. How to Convert MP4 for Streaming and Playing on Roku 4/3/2?

Step 1: Load unsupported MP4 video files into the program.

Click “Add Video” bar to import unsupported mp4 video into the program. You can batch load multiple MP4 video with different encoding into the program.

Step 2: Define output file format.

Click “Format” bar, from its drop-down option, select Roku 4/3/2 media player channel supported streaming formats from “HD Video” > “H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)”.

Step 3: Customize output profile parameters.

Click settings to open “Profile Settings” window, here you can flexibly adjust output video/audio codec, file resolution, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc according to your own situations.

Step 4: Start MP4 to Roku 4/3/2 conversion process.

One click the big button “Convert” on bottom-right corner to start conversion.

Once finishing conversion, you can stream/play converted files on Roku 4/3/2 either from USB drive or via the Plex Media Server.

I must be doing something fundamentally wrong, but having followed every bit of advice I can find about setting up a virtual host, etc., I cannot access my development website on the laptop connected via wifi to my network from my iPad connected to the same network. I just get the "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding" message. I cannot get past it, so what fundamental step am I missing?

Thanks!

Windows 10
Wamp 3.1.6
PHP 7.3.0
Apache 2.4.37
phpMyAdmin 4.8.4
MySQL 8.0.13

I just upgraded MySQL. THE WEBSITE CONTINUES TO WORK FINE. However, phpMyAdmin is still attached to the older MySQL 5.7.23 and doesn't recognize MySQL 8. I need to perform the import of my site to complete the MySQL upgrade. Also, Apache continues to display the site correctly but I know it is from the older database since I have yet to complete the MySQL import into version 8. The MySQL version checkmark in WAMP is set to 8.0.13 and I have restarted services many times but phpMyAdmin and Apache both only recognize the older MySQL 5.7.23.

What steps am I missing to complete the MySQL upgrade to version 8.0.13?

Thanks for the advice.

Speed Up DVD To H.265 Video Conversion (no replies)

It will be a headache for a large DVD collector to ship all of his DVD discs when moving. Comparing to the physical DVD discs migration, it will be a better idea to use a DVD ripping tool to rip all the moves to an hard drive and get rid of the DVD’s. To save the space and time cost, I suggest you to copy DVD to H.265 video utilizing NVIDIA GPU hardware acceleration.

HEVC’s main advantage over H.264 is that it offers roughly double the compression ratio for the same quality. This means that a video file encoded with HEVC can occupy half the space of its H.264 equivalent with no noticeable change in quality, or the same amount of space with improved quality. However, HEVC encoding is CPU-taking which will make you spend too much time on copying DVD to HEVC video files. So it is necessary for your DVD Ripper to support NVIDIA CUDA & NVIDIA NVENC hardware acceleration and your computer should be gear with a CUDA-enabled GPU.

NVIDIA GPU that allows you to convert DVD to H.265 with hardware accleeration is in this page.

Suggested DVD Ripping Tool Supporting HEVC NVIDIA GPU Encoding

Pavtube ByteCopy is designed to work with NVIDIA API to provide NVIDIA Graphics cards customers the ability to rip DVD and Blu-ray to to H.265 at up to 500% the speed of current GPU based solutions reaching up to 20x the speed of realtime conversions for 4K encodings and up to 30X realtime for 1080p FullHD.

Further Read: ByteCopy Joined H.265 NVIDIA to 30x Realtime 4K H.265 Encoding

If you have a CUDA-enabled GPU on your computer, you are able to rip Blu-ray, DVD, UHD Blu-ray to last generation HEVC H.265 codec at world fastest speeds. In the test, it only took 1 hour to rip a Blu-ray disc to HEVC/H.265 video utilizing NVIDIA CUDA hardware acceleration using Titan X Pascal on Windows 10. If you don’t use CUDA acceleration, you will spend 3-4 hours to backup the same Blu-ray disc. NVIDIA CUDA acceleration by HEVC codec is important, especially when you rip 4K Blu-ray to H.265/HEVC.

It also supports batch conversion and "shut down computer after conversion", which is useful for multiple DVD discs to H.265 copying. You can add several DVD discs, enable GPU encoding acceleration and check "Shut down computer after conversion" then start to rip DVD to H.265/HEVC video without waiting in front of the computer.

Note: You also can rip DVD to H.265 with Handbrake but Handbrake doesn’t support GPU acceleration and it will cost four times by H.264 encoing time cost in Handbrake HEVC enocding test. So although Pavtube ByteCopy is a paid software, it deserves it. It has free trial version but the output video will have Pavtube logo watermark in the middle. If you want to remove the watermark, you need to get a full version.

Start To Copy DVD To H.265 Video By Speeding Up With NVIDIA Acceleration

Step 1. load DVD movie

After installing this DVD to H.265 Converter software successfully, just run it. Then load in the source DVD you want to convert by inserting the DVD disc into the optical drive, dragging & dropping the ISO file or movie folder into the main region of the main interface. You also can load your Blu-ray discs, Blu-ray folder, Blu-ray ISO to convert Blu-ray video to H.265.

Step 2. Select H.265 as output format

In ByteCopy, you would find H.265 MP4 profile under Common Video and HD Video categories. Choose either one for output. You also can choose HD MKV from HD Video category and set video codes to x265 in “Settings“. Meanwhile, you are allowed to adjust profile parameters like display resolution, bitrate, frame rate, audio sample rate to achieve the best video and audio playback on your device.

Tip: Before conversion, this DVD ripping software allows you to click “Settings” button right besides “Format” and enter “Settings” panel to adjust video size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channels.

Step 3. Utilizing Nvidia GPU Hardware Acceleration In DVD to HEVC encoding

Now, move your cursor to “Tools” button on the top of the main interface to choose “Options”. Then you can enable GPU Encode acceleration.

Step 3. Complete the conversion task

After all necessary settings, click “Convert” button to begin your DVD to H.265/HEVC conversion.

HEVC Playback On Windows 10

Many computers have dedicated hardware for decoding H.264 streams, while equivalent hardware for decoding HEVC is significantly less common. That’s not to say it’s impossible to decode HEVC on today’s devices – software playback is still possible on a wide variety of hardware, and some hardware decoding solutions exist – but something that can play H.264 is not necessarily HEVC-compatible.

Hardware Support

Here’s a quick rundown of well-known hardware that includes dedicated HEVC decoding blocks, which definitely support efficient HEVC playback:

Intel 6th-generation ‘Skylake’ Core processors or newer

AMD 6th-generation ‘Carizzo’ APUs or newer

AMD ‘Fiji’ GPUs (Radeon R9 Fury/Fury X/Nano) or newer

Nvidia GM206 GPUs (GeForce GTX 960/950) or newer

Other Nvidia GeForce GTX 900 series GPUs have partial HEVC hardware decoding support

Qualcomm Snapdragon 805/615/410/208 SoCs or newer. Support ranges from 720p decoding on low-end parts to 4K playback on high-end parts.

Nvidia Tegra X1 SoCs or newer

Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5430 SoCs or newer

Apple A8 SoCs or newer

Some MediaTek SoCs from mid-2014 onwards

Compress Video Size without Quality Loss (no replies)

Why people need to compress video file size?

Nowadays, your smartphone, tablet or DSLR camera can all shot high quality and high resolution. Those uncompressed digital video files deliver utmost quality but usually have to store enormous amount of data. However, you may feel it a great pain since there aren’t enough space on your PC or portable gadgets. In addition, it becomes pretty hard for you to send such large files to a friend online, share / upload it to video websites quickly, or even just casting it to our favorite video streamer (such as Google Chromecast).

The good news is that you can reduce file size fairly easy, the bad news is that if you don’t compress video file size with the right settings, you can easily suffer video file size quality loss. How to make a perfect balance. The following article will show you what are the important parameters that are influencing video file size and how to properly tweak those settings to produce a smaller file size with no quality loss.

What factors that effect the final video file size?

There are many factors that will impact the final video file size, such as video codec, container, resolution, bit rate, frame rate. For video size, codec and bit rate of the video are the most crucial factors or reference indexes. In broad terms, the video size is determined by bit rate. Under the same definition, the higher bit rate the video possesses, the bigger the video size is. And remember, the resolution has no influence on video size if we don’t change bit rates.

How to tweaking settings to compress video with no quality loss?

Choose the best codec and container

When you plan to reduce video file size, make sure to pick the most efficient codec and container.

Choose H.264 as the compression codec: This is a standard codec that balances high visual quality with efficient file size. It’s a great starting point for encoding your videos as it ensures you’ll get the most out of your upload quota while minimizing upload and conversion times. In addition, it is also recognized by most devices today.

Choose MP4 as the container: MP4 is efficient, but more importantly, it’s the most widely recognized file format for videos. In fact, YouTube, Vimeo, and Facebook recommend MP4 as the preferred container.

Reduce the video resolution

Resolution affects the size of the video greatly, but the quality may not be greatly affected. Following are the commonly-used resolutions:
2160p (3840×2160)
1440p (2560×1440)
1080p (1980×1080)
720p (1280×720)
480p (854×480)
360p (640×360)
240p (426×240)

The import rule to reduce file size by resolution is to check the video’s original resolution and choose one level below it.

Bit rate – the biggest factor

Bit rate is the among of data being shown in one second and it is one of the biggest factor in determining the quality of a video. The more data you allow, the more artifacts can be shown on the screen, and the better the video quality will be.

YouTube has some recommended bitrates that you can use as a thumb rule for any video file. Don’t go below these recommended numbers, but if your current bitrate is higher, you can safely reduce it.

Tips: It’s best to keep your bitrate variable rather than constant.

Don’t change frame rate

It’s best to maintain the video’s native frame rate when compressing your video. You can lower the video frame rate to a range between 24-30 frames per second (FPS), but doing that can affect the smoothness of the video, and especially make movement seem jerky or unnatural.

Better set audio codec, channel, bit rate and sample rate

If the video has music, set Channels to Stereo. If the video does not have music, or does not utilize surround sound, select Mono. Mono will lead to a smaller file size. Set audio bit-rate as 160 and choose a higher bit rate (256 or 320) if you’re converting a video where music is the main element. This will keep the file size down without sacrificing audio quality too much. As for audio codec, set AAC or MP3, which are lossy compressed audio file formats that are good enough for most cases.

Pick the right video compression software

You’re highly recommended to use a desktop tool for this task but not a tablet or smartphone. Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate is such a beneficial cross-platform (get Mac version) media conversion tool out there. It has perfect importing commercial Blu-ray/DVD disc and 4K/2K/HD/SD digital video in virtually any file formats.

You can follow the steps Below to compress video file size without sacrificing quality:

Step 1: Add video files that you desire to compress with.

Download and install the best Video Compressor for HD/4K video. Click “File” menu and select “Add Video/Audio” or click the “Add Video” button on the top tool bar to import source 4K/HD video files into the program.

Step 2: Choose output file format.

From “Format” bar drop-down menu, we choose the most efficient and device compatible compression codec “H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)” under “HD Video” main category. For 4K video uploading, it would be much ideal for you to select “H.264 High Profile Video(*.mp4)” under “Common Video” main category.

Output H.264 HD Video

Output 4K High Profile Video

Step 3: Properly tweak output profile parameters.

Click “Settings” on the main interface to open “Profile Settings” window, here, change output invideo codec, bit rate, frame rate, resolution and audio codec, bit rate, sample rate, channels with the principles we listed above to produce a smaller file size with no quality loss.

Step 4: Begin the video file size reducing process.

After all setting is completed, hit the “Convert” button at the right bottom of the main interface to begin the 4K/HD video file size compressing process.

When the conversion is finished, click “Open Output Folder” icon on the main interface to open the folder with generated files. Then you can get a smaller file size without any quality loss for better storage and smooth sharing.

MS upgrade to Win10 for October 2018 is causing some unknown issue with WAMP. Everything was working until the W10 upgrade. Now some parts of the local test website just stall and never display the page. Some parts still work OK but I haven't determined exactly which is which (very confusing). They all use PHP and MySQL.

At the same time phpMyAdmin has also stopped. It just sits with a blank page no matter how long it it left.

I have now upgraded WAMP to the latest 3.1.4 64bit, Apache 2.4.35, PHP 7.2.10, MySQL 5.7.23 hoping that that would resolve the issue. WAMP Server is running with all 3 services green, but, even on a clean install, phpMyAdmin is still just sitting on a blank page.

I carefully followed the install instructions; IIS was disabled and C++ are all at the latest versions.

Is there a source repository for the project files/ISS files, etc required to build the WampServer 3 installer. Seems like they are required to be available under GPL, but I can’t seem to find any link to them anywhere or how to request them. Did the license change? Thanks!
