Trouble adding virtual host (no replies)

It has been a while since I created a virutal host and I'm having problems.

I just installed the newest release of WAMP64 on a computer which has never had WAMP on it.

I am getting the following messages when I try to create a virtual host. I assume the 2nd and 3rd errors are due to the open failure.

-------------------------------
Warning: fopen(C:/Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts): failed to open stream: Resource temporarily unavailable in C:\wamp64\www\add_vhost.php on line 446

-------------------------------------------------

I checked and the hosts file is located at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and I can open it in an editor

The virtual host I'm trying to create resides in: C:\wamp64\www\WP

I've tried different virtual host names with no difference in results - I followed the rule "No diacritical characters (éçëñ) - No space - No underscore(_)"

I've tried running WAMP64 normally and I also ran it As Administrator.

What am I doing wrong?

What can I do to deleted the partially defined virtual hosts?

Mechanical bug in WampServer (2 replies)

Under `/bin/apache/apache2.4.xx/conf/extra/httpd-ssl.conf ` there is incorrectly used variable, named `${SRVROOT} `

neither in WampServer instalaltion, that variable is not being defined. I assume that is mechanical mistake as in `conf/httpd.conf` there is:

`${APACHE_DIR}`

so, i assume it should be everywhere in `httpd-ssl.conf`, instead of `${SRVROOT} `.

you can ensure that the bug is existent. Just uncomment "Include httpd-ssl.conf" in main httpd.conf and pinging :
C:/wamp/bin/apache/apache2.4.35/bin/httpd -t

will confirm that variable doesnt exist.

Installing Wampserver in place of xammp server (no replies)

OS = Windows Server 2012 64-bit
Apache = 2.4.23 (in the list of services it says Win32 in parenthesis for this service)
Php = 5.6.24
MySQL = Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.1.16-MariaDB, for Win32 (AMD64)
Wampserver is not installed. I wish to install the latest Wampserver.

I need to update the php version, but the server presently has xampp which does not easily allow for the update of individual components. I am wondering if anyone can provide a set of steps for replacing xampp with WampServer. On top of this stack is running Joomla. Only Apache and Php and MySQL are being used thru xampp.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

- Wampserver 3.1.4 full install and Apache 2.4.35

- No define of SRVROOT Apache variable.

It's an oversight on my part, I'm sorry.

Modify the wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.35\conf\httpd.conf file as follows :

Duplicate the line:
Define APACHE_DIR ${INSTALL_DIR}/bin/apache/apache${VERSION_APACHE}
Then modify the new line to obtain
Define APACHE_DIR ${INSTALL_DIR}/bin/apache/apache${VERSION_APACHE}
Define SRVROOT ${INSTALL_DIR}/bin/apache/apache${VERSION_APACHE}

The download page is not working (1 reply)

Hi, i'm currently doing my school's final year project and i need some help.
I'm suppose to import the previous student's work and make improvements to it.
(Making improvements is my "job".)

I've been researching about WAMP and playing around with it but i can't seem to find a way to import a whole server // database.

Also can someone please link me to some basics on WAMP etc.
(new to WAMP / PHP / SQL projects) (Literally know nothing at all)

Also is there a difference between previous versions and the latest ones cause i wasn't even told which version the previous handler was running on.

Error 404 localhost in Wampserver 2018 (no replies)

Hi guys, I recently downloaded WAMP. I installed it on my WIN10 and I had lots of problems. The icon is green but I can't connect to my local host. It shows me a white page with the message; HTTP ERROR 404 page not found. To turn the icon green I changed ports in Apache going to Wamp server -> Apache -> httpd.conf using 8080 instead of the default 80.

I also downloaded the last version of Visual C ++ (I have 2015 for x64 and for x86) Shall I delete the old versions of C++? I have 2005, 2012 and 2013 only for x64.
I also stopped Skype that was using the same port as Apache. I changed as well, the port 80 of phpmyadmin, howerver, I have to type on my browser :8080 just after localhost every time I want to connect it. Could anybody please help me out. I am not an IT expert so if anybody knows what should I do, I would appreciate if I could be guided step by step to fix these problems, as the icon is green but I can only connect to PHPmyadmin but in an annoying way. Thanks

I have been using now Wampserver for over 10 years. Recently I decided to do an upgrade from 2.5 to 3 but unfortunately it's just not working out for me.

I have tried several online tutorials and I have even tried several tutorials on here going through threads but none seem to work so far. I never had such a problem with earlier versions of Wamp but Wampserver 3 I just can't for the life of me seem to get the website showing on the web.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm currently using Wamp64 Version 3.1.3. In a few days I will be doing a fresh install of Windows 10 and reinstalling all my software.

I am planning on installing Wamp64 Version 3.1.4, but would also like to reinstate my current projects. If after install wamp, I copy and replace wamp64/www and wamp64/bin from my existing install, will that be enough to get my projects and databases available again?

Hope someone can confirm or advise.

Many thanks,

Myles

So I decided to get myself an unnecessary amount of drives to separate and clean stuff up, and I decided to dedicate one to Wampserver. Problem is I need to install the software in a subfolder, it won't allow drive root installing.

"D:\www" looks a lot better than "D:\wamp64\www"

This annoys me so much.

cURL on PHP7 on WAMP 3.1.4 32bit (1 reply)

I've just upgraded to WAMP 3.1.4 and PHP 7.2.11 with Apache 2.4.18.

Under PHP extensions, curl is activated. But, if I do phpinfo(), PHP7 doesn't seem to have been built with cURL, and there is no details about cURL in the info.

When I all curl_init(), I get an error "Call to undefined function".

Can anyone help me get this working?

Thanks

Settings: After install / Before use (no replies)

In between the successful installation of Wampserver and the start to use it there are some settings that any user must / should consider.
Many (new) users are no doubt not aware of them and (if they are) how to handle them? I am one of those that lack knowledge.

The necessary information may be available at odd places around on the internet. Some new users will never find them others will eventually find them when it is too late.

To minimize this risk I suggest that a new section ("Settings: After installation / before use" ) is inserted in the allready indispensable [wampserver.aviatechno.net] dashboard.

I am aware of four settings (there may be more):

1 MySQL storage engine

2 MySQL charahcter sets and collation

3 phpMyAdmin browser

4 phpMyAdmin / MySQL password

Re MySQL storage engine:
Since MySQL 5.5 the recommended storage engine has been "InnoDB" for most users. My MySQL 5.7.21 was downloaded a few days ago with "MyISAM" as storage engine.
Which basic settings do I have to set in My.ini to switch to InnoDB??
Is this enough??
;default-storage-engine=MYISAM
default-storage-engine=InnoDB

Re MySQL charahcter sets and collation:
MySQL is installed with "latin1_swedish_c1". Fine enough, but most users will need another local charachter set to cater for their needs.
Which basic settings do I have to set where to switch to the language / collation that I want for my individual use of MySQL??

Re: phpMyAdmin browser:
During installation users can select a browser to use for phpMyAdmin. MS-Explorer is the default.
Which string do i have to insert (c://.....exe. or whatever) to select another browser??
Which data do I have to enter to select MS-Edge as my browser??
Where / how can I change the browser if need should be later??

Re phpMyAdmin / MySQL password:
phpMyAdmin / MySQL is installed with blank password. Fine enough, but it is wery unsafe to use MySQL without a password.
Where can I insert the password, that I want to protect my Databases??

Play 4K HDR/UHD MKV on Shield TV via Plex (no replies)

Nvidia SHIELD TV isn’t just the only Streaming Media Player that’s a Plex media server; it’s also a Plex media player. This means it provides the best experience, with support for 4K Ultra HD resolution, 1080P video transcode hardware acceleration for the top media codecs, and a snappy 10-foot user interface. Have some 4K MKV files and wish to stream 4K UHD/HDR to Nvidia Shiled TV via Plex Media Server but have no ideal whether the Plex app can Nvidia Shield TV can perfectly handle the 4K MKV files, the following article will illustrate this issue for you with detailed information.

Can Plex app for Nvidia Shield TV handle 4K MKV video?

The good new is that as early as 2015, NVIDIA had announced the features saying that in addition to the 4K streaming support, the new Plex update also brings Dolby Digital Plus surround sound support, and support for the MKV file format. When you start Plex on your SHIELD device the next time, you’ll be prompted to upgrade.

Why Plex server crashes or not be able to transcode 4K MKV?

There are some users complain that the Plex Media Server crashes when playing some 4K MKV files on Nvidia Shiled TV or Nvidia Shiled TV 4K Direct Play shows “the server is not powerful enough to convert video…”.

It is well known that MKV is a container file format which can be encoded with various compression codec such as H.264, H.265, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, VC-1/WMV, etc. However, Nvidia Shiled TV Plex app only handle MKV file with H.264 or H.265 codec, if the MKV file are encoded with other incompatible codec, Plex will will needs to transcode the video. When content needs to be transcoded, the Plex server will also need to decode the video stream before transcoding it. The following video compression formats are supported for hardware decoding on the SHIELD:
– H.264
– H.265 (HEVC)
– MPEG 2

If the MKV files, are encoded with other codec like WMV/VC-1, MVC, etc, the Nvidia Shiled TV will reduce the performance in cases when transcoding is necessary. When in that condition, it would be much idea for you to find a third-party 4K video conversion app to perform the codec transcoding process.

Apache works well at least at its first start.
I followed the instructions uninstalling the previous version I had, stopping the processes, verifying that I have everything updated and ready to install the wampserver.

I reiterate that everything works fine except this problem of extensions.

What is this error?
How should I solve it?
